Climate Resilience & Water Security Fund

ACF-2026-PR-11-EN

Executive Summary

This Program addresses the economic and moral impacts of climate change on African communities (Article 3.2). By financing resilient infrastructure such as flood defenses, drought-resistant agriculture, and water conservation systems, the Fund protects member assets and ensures sustainable growth. Projects must demonstrate environmental stewardship and long-term community benefit over short-term extraction.

Program Objectives

  1. Protect 2 million individuals from climate-related disasters through resilient infrastructure.
  2. Finance 100+ water security projects (dams, purification, irrigation) in vulnerable regions.
  3. Promote sustainable land management practices to prevent soil degradation.
  4. Integrate climate risk assessment into all Fund-financed project evaluations.
  5. Support community-led adaptation strategies that preserve local ecosystems.

  • Communities vulnerable to drought, flood, or environmental degradation.
  • Agricultural cooperatives requiring climate-resilient infrastructure.
  • Member institutions financing green or adaptive development projects.
  • Local governments and entities managing water resources and land use.

Eligible Projects

  1. Construction of flood defenses, drainage systems, and erosion control structures.
